OHV Monitoring
Working in collaboration with partners to document impacts
The Klamath Forest Alliance operates an OHV Monitoring Program based out of the Siskiyou Field Office. We also collaborate with conservation partners at the Applegate Neighborhood Network on the Applegate Valley OHV Monitoring Project. Our OHV Monitoring Program documents the impacts of off-road vehicle use in our wildlands, watersheds and natural habitats. We conduct on-the-ground monitoring throughout the Applegate River Watershed, the Siskiyou Crest and the Siskiyou Mountains.
Our monitoring efforts are used to produce detailed monitoring reports focused on the region’s roadless areas, botanical areas, research natural areas and other intact habitats. These reports are submitted to land management agencies with recommendations for specific OHV closures and management actions that will reduce or eliminate impacts associated with illegal, unauthorized or inappropriate OHV access.
Our OHV Monitoring Program documents the impacts of off-road vehicle use in our wildlands, watersheds and natural habitats.
Our OHV Monitoring Program and the associated advocacy has resulted in the successful closure of numerous unauthorized and environmentally damaging OHV routes on BLM and Forest Service lands in the Siskiyou Mountains and we intend to continue working for more!
